Process

This is our 9 steps process for every project

1. Planning and Design

  • Area Measurement: Measurement of the area to be paved to calculate the required amount of materials.
  • Material Selection: Selection of the type of paver (natural stone, concrete, brick, etc.) and the laying pattern.
  • Permits and Regulations: Verification of construction permits and local regulations.

2. Site Preparation

  • Marking the Area: Delimitation of the space using stakes and strings.
  • Sod Removal: Excavation and removal of the grass and topsoil layer, generally between 15 and 25 cm deep.
  • Cleaning: Elimination of roots, stones, and other debris that may interfere with the installation.

3. Edge Installation

  • Setting Edging: Installation of edge restraints around the perimeter to keep the pavers in place.
  • Alignment and Leveling: Ensuring that the edges are properly aligned and level.

4. Base Preparation

  • Base Layer: Application of a layer of gravel or crushed stone about 10-15 cm thick.
  • Compaction: Compaction of the base using a compactor to ensure adequate stability and drainage.
  • Leveling: Verification that the surface is level and has the necessary slope for water drainage.

5. Sand Layer

  • Applying Sand: Addition of a coarse sand layer of 3-5 cm over the compacted base.
  • Sand Leveling: Leveling of the sand using a screed or pipes to create a uniform surface for the pavers.

6. Laying the Pavers

  • Installation: Placement of the pavers following the chosen pattern, starting from a corner or fixed point.
  • Adjustment and Leveling: Gentle tapping of the pavers with a rubber mallet to set them into the sand.
  • Cutting Pavers: Cutting of pavers to fit edges or corners using an appropriate cutter, if necessary.

7. Joint Filling

  • Applying Joint Sand: Spreading of fine sand or polymeric sand over the pavers and sweeping to fill the joints.
  • Final Compaction: Running the compactor over the pavers to set the surface and ensure the joints are filled.
  • Cleaning: Removal of excess sand from the surface.

8. Sealing (Optional)

  • Applying Sealer: Application of a specific sealer for pavers to protect them from stains and wear, if desired.

9. Final Inspection

  • Verification: Checking that all pavers are firm and the surface is level.
  • Drainage: Ensuring that the slope allows proper water drainage away from the house.
